Ed Kerley, 87, of Big Spring, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, in a San Angelo hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 16, 2013 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Rev. Barbara Kirk-Norris, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the funeral home.

Ed was born September 15, 1925, in Cumberland County, Tennessee and married Barbara Brewster August 9, 1958 in Seminole, Texas. She preceded him in death January 1, 2004.

He grew up in Tennessee and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico to work for Gulf Oil Company.

He joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS Helena during World War II.

He returned to Hobbs after the war where he met his wife, Barbara. He and his family moved to Crane with Gulf Oil Company for a few years and then moved to Big Spring in 1971, retiring from Chevron as a flow line engineer.

Ed was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where he was also a member of the St. Andrew's Brotherhood and had served as Junior Warden for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Ates and husband, Lee of San Angelo, Texas; a granddaughter, Chelsea Huskey and husband, Wesley of Knoxville, Tennessee and their son, Nolan Huskey; a sister, Mabel Clem of Rockwood, Tennessee; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Rachel Cagle of Eastland, Texas.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 2949, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2949.
