The life of Alan Davis Kernodle will be celebrated with a graveside service Saturday July 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Memorial Park.

Alan left for his Heavenly home Wednesday July 2, 2014 in Big Spring, Texas.

At 88, Alan had a thumbs up and a hearty "hello" for friends and family and no one was a stranger.

Alan met his sweetheart Undine DeBruler in Burlington, NC shortly before moving to Big Spring. He then called for her a year later to be his bride. They married in 1952 and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Alan worked for 31 years as an electrician for Cosden Oil & Chemical.

He served as a deacon at the First Christian Church of Big Spring and as a member of the Evening Lions Club.

After retirement from Cosden he delivered prescriptions for Leonard's Pharmacy and painted homes.

His favorite past times were watching high school softball, any baseball game and cat napping while watching television.

He was a devoted father to Katie and Alana for most of his life.

His memory is cherished by his wife Undine Kernodle of Big Spring; daughter Katie and her husband Glen Grigg of Ackerly; grandson J. D. and his wife Carrie Grigg of Odessa; granddaughter Tinsey Grigg of Lubbock as well as countless other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by daughter Alana, eight brothers and two sisters.

September 3rd was a bittersweet day for Undine Kernodle as she left her family on Earth to join her Savior and loved ones in Heaven.

Her life will be remembered with a graveside service Friday, at 11am at Trinity Memorial Park.

Undine was born November 6, 1927 in Durham, North Carolina.

She met her sweetheart Alan Kernodle in North Carolina but had to follow him to Big Spring for marriage and a family.

She and Alan shared 62 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, both girls.

Undine worked as a secretary for College Heights, Washington and Kentwood schools for many years.

She sold Mary Kay beauty products, volunteered at Scenic Mountain Medical Center and the Welcome Center of Big Spring and also was a Girl Scout leader.

Undine loved the Lord and did her work for him in the service of others by volunteering, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir at First Christian Church.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Undine had a sweet soul, warm heart and friendly smile for everyone she encountered.

Those left to cherish her memory are; daughter Katie and her husband Glen Grigg of Ackerly, grandson J.D. and his wife Carrie Grigg of Lubbock and granddaughter Tinsey Grigg of Lubbock. Other family and friends will remember her fondly.

Undine was preceded in death by daughter Alana, husband Alan and four sisters.
