*Obituary Elbert M. Long
Elbert Milton Long, 88, lifelong resident of Big Spring, went to be with His Lord and our mom, Sunday, March 26, 2023.

The family will receive friends 6pm-8pm, Friday, March 31, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10am Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, officiating.

Elbert was born November 20, 1934 to parents Elbert Henry Long and Mildred Louise (Broughton) Long in Moore School Community where he subsequently was a lifelong farmer.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Monohn Holley, June 14, 1953. To this union they had three great sons.

Elbert served for many years as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Baptist Church under the ministry of Dr. Claude Craven and Dr. Randy Cotton.

He also served on the board at the State National Bank under the leadership of John Currie.

He loved hunting, fishing and farming.

He was fortunate to farm with his neighbors, W H Ward, D L Newton, Marion Newton and Doyle Railsback.

He and Wayne Burleson, of Burleson Machine Shop were credited with building the first 8 row cotton stripper in Howard County, which was later adopted industry wide.

If he knew you, he loved you and you were a lifelong friend.

He is survived by his three sons: Frank Long and wife Glenda, David Long and wife Carol and Keith Long and wife Karen; brother: Donald Long; grandchildren: Kimberly Nelson, Tracy Crow, Jamie Wills, Jennifer Luxton, Amanda Long, Krystle Walker, Shay Long and Kala Word; 17 great-grandchildren with two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and two of his life-long friends: Frank House and Billy Swindell.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial to Trinity Baptist Mission Fund at 1701 E. FM 700, Big Spring, TX 79720.

Monohn Long, 85, of Big Spring, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020. Private family services will be held.
She was born March 25, 1935 to Avreal Lewis Holley and Lucy Annie Brown Holley in Pecos, Texas. Monohn married Elbert Long, june 14, 1953. She taught Sunday School for 33 years at Trinity Baptist church. She was a homemaker.
Monohn is survived by her husband, Elbert Long; three sons, Frank long and his wife Glenda, David Long and his wife Carol and Keith Long and his wife Karen; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
