Opal Jean Magers, 80, of Big Spring died Saturday, May 04, 2013, at Kristi Lee Manor Nursing Home in Colorado City. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at Mt Bethel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor William T. Vaughn of Mt Bethel Baptist Church and Pastor Holston Banks of Shiloh House of Praise with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born June 05, 1932, in Spur, Texas to Mary and Matthew Scott. She married Ellihue Magers on June 05, 1955 in San Angelo, Texas. He preceded her in death July 07, 2006. She worked as a cook at the Big Spring State Hospital and Scenic Mountain Center before retiring. She was a member of Mt Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by six children: Eugene Scott of Big Spring, Sandra Magers of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rose Magers Powell of Huntsville, Alabama, James Magers of Big Spring, Linda Magers of Tampa, Florida and Nannie Lee Magers of Tuskofee, Alabama; one brother Matthew Scott of Corinth, Texas ; one sister Lilly Josey of San Angelo, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by one son John Magers and a daughter Lena Magers.
