Kerrville, TX -Virginia Ann Templeton Martin, 69, of Center Point, passed from this life at a local hospital on Sunday evening, July 26, 2009.

Born in Loraine, TX on May 30, 1940, she was the daughter of J.M. and Ovada Templeton.

Mrs. Martin was a home economics teacher in Big Spring TX area for 28 years and was the department head there. She had received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

A devout Christian, she was very active in the First Christian Church of Big Spring, TX. A deacon of the church, she was also an organist and pianist there, treasurer and was a Sunday School Teacher. She also was a pianist for Webb Chapel, Webb Air Force Base. Moving to Kerrville in 2000 she was a member of the First Christian Church of Kerrville and later moved membership to Center Point Christian Church.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Red Hats, the A.A.U.W and was active in many other organizations.

Mrs. Martin had a great love of her life, Dub, whom she married on August 24, 1962. They would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this year.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Mary Rose Bowen.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her husband, William F. "Dub" Martin of Center Point; her children, son Brigham Alan Martin and his wife Aimee, of Fredericksburg, and daughter, Kathryn Martin of Wiggins, CO; grandchildren, Wilson Martin and Teya Grace Martin of Fredericksburg and Brandon Keith Jobe of Oak Harbor, WA; a sister, Dixie Smith of Roscoe, TX; her brother-in-law, Charles Bowen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held at the Center Point Baptist Church on Wednesday evening, July 29, 2009 from 5-6PM.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Center Point Baptist Church following the visitation at 6PM. Also, a service will be held at First Christian Church of Big Spring on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 10:30AM. Committal services will be private in Big Spring, TX.

Floral arrangements are acceptable or monetary donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Center Point Christian Church or First Christian Church, 910 Goliad St, Big Spring, TX
