Bertha Isbell McFarland, 87, of Big Spring, died Monday, February 19, 2018 in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Brad Daniels, chaplain with Hospice of West Texas, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 19, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
She was born August 5, 1930 in Anderson County, Kansas to Anna Mae Isbell (Wiggans) and Dwight Zeno Isbell.
Bertha met William "Mac" McFarland on a blind date at Fort Scott Junior College and they were married November 25, 1950 at Lackland Air Force Base Chapel in San Antonio.
Bertha and Mac lived in many places across the world until being stationed at Webb Air Force Base.
She worked as a hairdresser and became an instructor at the Academy of Hair Design from 1973 until retiring in 1992.
Survivors include her husband, William "Mac" McFarland of Big Spring; one son, James McFarland and wife, Kathie of Big Spring; two daughters, Sandra Bradbury and husband, Alan of Midland, and Terry McFarland of Canada; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231, or to Hospice of West Texas, 1900 S. Gregg St., Big Spring, Texas 79720.
