Billie Smith McLain, 89, of Colorado City, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Joey Bacon, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Billie graduated from Big Spring High School in 1941.
She married Herbie Smith in 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas and they had two sons.
After Herbie's death, she married Eddie McLain in 1983.
Billie worked as a secretary for Guthrie Oil and Gas for 43 years.
After retirement, she moved to Colorado City Lake.
Billie loved reading, mostly true crime, bowling, fishing and sewing.
She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
She was stubborn but had a heart as big as Texas.
Billie is survived by her husband, Eddie McLain; one son, Tim Smith and wife, Phyllis; four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbie; a son, Terry; and two sisters, Lajuan McBride and Janie Bixler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Howard County Humane Society, P.O. Box 823, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0823.
