Donna Murphy, 76, of Big Spring died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at her residence. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rev. Herb McPherson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
She was born September 27, 1932, in Gladewater, Texas to Mattie and Claude DeFord. She moved to Big Spring in October 1958 from Midland. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, J. O. "Jim" Murphy of Big Spring; five sons, Bobby Stark and his wife Lawana of Odessa, Chris Chaney and his wife Terri, Keith Chaney, Joe Chaney and his wife Tammye, and Kevin Murphy and his wife Shirley, all of Big Spring; two daughters, Joy Linn Landis and her husband Forrest of Tucson, Arizona, and Diane Hatch of Nederland, Texas; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Jim DeFord and his wife Maxine of Pensacola, Florida; and one sister, Pat Moore and her husband Dub of Denton.
