Mamie J. Roberts, 100, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, February 23, 2006, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Elwin Collom, Home Hospice Chaplain and Rev. Dennis Teeters, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
She was born on June 26, 1905, in Paris, Texas and had lived in Big Spring since 1916.
She attended Hardin Simmons University for 2 years and had worked for Cosden-Fina as an accountant for 23 years.
After retirement, she worked as a special duty nurse at hospital and nursing homes.
Mrs. Roberts was a member of First Baptist Church, a member of the Home Bound Sunday School Class and loved Evlyn Coker's Sunday School Class.
She was a charter member of the Desk and Derrick Club, a 43 year member and past president of Big Spring Professional Women, served as chairman of the Easter Seals, a member of Howard County Geneology Society, a member of Cosden 25 year Club and was active in RSVP until a month ago.
She was a good christian and had many friends.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Linda Ruth Padgett of Waco; four great grandchildren; her friends and neighbors, James and Janel Barnhill of Big Spring and numerous other friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Dan Padgett and Duppy Padgett and one grandson, Mike Padgett.
The family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice, 111 E. 7th, Suite A, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to a favorite charity.
