Oberia M. Parks, 94, of Big Spring, died on Friday, December 12, 2003, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 15, 2003, at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Dr. Dave Ring , pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Oberia was born to Mitchell and Nellie Lawson, on June 27, 1909, in Baird, Texas and married James Harold Parks on August 7, 1930, in Cisco, Texas. He preceded her in death in January, 1980.

She was raised in Toyah and came to Big Spring after she married in 1930.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Parks was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the Philathia Sunday School Class.

Oberia was an avid bridge player for many years until she became ill.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Parks of Big Spring; three grandsons, Jim Parks and his wife Tracy of The Woodlands, Pete Shaffer and his wife Darilyn of Arlington, and Bob Shaffer of Big Spring; one son-in-law, Paul Shaffer, of Big Spring; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosie Shaffer, and one granddaughter, Stacey Parks.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 400 Scurry, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or Home Hospice, 600 Gregg Street, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
