Roddy Max Pitts, 70, of Spring Branch, died on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, in a San Antonio hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.

He was born June 22, 1934 in Wylie, Texas in Collin County.

He was a graduate of Big Spring High School with the class of 1951 and later was a graduate of Howard College.

He and his lovely bride, Betty Frances Myers, were wed on May 14, 1953.

They were longtime members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Big Spring.

"Max" is survived by his loving wife, Betty Pitts and "Top Dog" Mindilou Pitts of Spring Branch. Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie Newmann and husband, Bobby of Brazoria; two sons, Richard Pitts of Beaumont and Mark Pitts and wife, Pamela of Denham Springs, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Christopher, Ricky, Renee, RaeAnn and Erin; and two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Teagen.

"Max", as his colleagues and friends called him, was a devoted husband, loving father, groovy granddad and trusted friend.

Max was the City Manager of several cities across Texas including: Goldthwaite, Oyster Creek, Rockdale, West Columbia and was Assistant City Manager of Clute.

Max, Betty and Mindilou retired to the Spring Branch/San Antonio area.
