Cliffa Jean Slate, 87, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Terry McDaniel, the best son-in-law ever, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
She was born December 25, 1925, in Sweetwater, Texas and married Walter L. Slate May 5, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas.
She was a Christian.
Survivors include her husband, Walter L. Slate of Big Spring; a daughter, Kay McDaniel and husband, Terry; a son, Mark Slate and wife, Deborah of Big Spring; a sister, T. J. Grantham all of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Megan McDaniel and fiance, Billly Tigert and children, Talan, Violet and Kouper of Oklahoma, Bree Howard and children, Baxter, Sam and Gage of Austin, Kelila Slate of Montrose, Colorado, and Michael Slate and wife, Christina and children, Brendon and Starr of Palm Springs, California; a niece, Ladon Patterson and husband, Ricky and children, Garrick and Landon of Midland; and a nephew, Lyle Grantham and wife, Lorrie and son, Lukas of Knott.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
