Eugenia "Gina" Salazar, 79, of Big Spring died Fri, Jan 25, 2019.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Sun. Vigil services will be at 7 pm Sun at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Mon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born May 12, 1939, in Charco, TX to Eusebia Aspectia Martinez and Felix Martinez.
She married Tim Salazar on Dec 21, 1960, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death on Feb 23, 1999.
Gina was a homemaker, but also worked in Central Supply at Scenic Mountain Medical Center for 57 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was a greeter and she was very involved in Vacation Bible School.
Gina loved music, dancing, shopping with her daughters and spending time with her granddaughter.
Gina is survived by two daughters: Debbye Valverde and her husband Larry of Big Spring and Denise Salazar and her husband Marty Deanda of Big Spring; one granddaughter: Sophie Deanda of Big Spring; one brother: Tony Martinez of Big Spring; three sisters: Margaret Garcia of Big Spring, Louisa Lopez and her husband Claudio of Big Spring, and Ofelia Alcantar of Cedar Hill; brother and sisters-in-law: Joe and Cruz Salazar and Mary Salazar all of Big Spring; special friend like a third daughter: Gabrielle Deanda of Big Spring; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and God children.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: Ricarda Arista Hilario.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cuellar, Manny Negron, Raymond Ramirez, Jr., Tony Salazar, Leon Velasquez, Mark Williams, and Pano Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Scenic Mountain Medical Center Family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, P. O. Box 951, Big Spring, TX 79721 or Relay For Life, % Vicki Stewart, 6 Coachman Circle, Big Spring, TX 79720.
