Dorothy Whitton, 86, of Big Spring died Saturday, January 9, 2016. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church with Randy Cotton, pastor, of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born April 24, 1929, in Sebring, Florida to Pearl and Archie Riles. She married William C. “Bill” Whitton on October 21, 1943, in Sebring, Florida. She was a homemaker, but she had also worked for B.S.I.S.D. and later for the Big Spring State Hospital until retiring. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter: Renea Patterson and her husband Sam of Big Spring; one sister: Anne Sayles of Florida; five grandchildren: Ammia Howell, Courtney Boyd and her husband Hunter Williams, Jeremy Nixson and his wife Sadie Spradley, April Nixson, and Dustin Nixson and his wife Stefani; 12 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; and son-in-law: Roy Boyd of Big Spring.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Patricia Howell and an infant Mary Louise Whitton; and one grandson: Christopher Nixson.
