*Obituary
Lena Jane Bankston, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 31, 2021.
Lena Jane was the only child of Daniel John and Lizzie Starks. She was born on March 2, 1928 in the house she lived in the last forty years in the Ranch Branch community. The Starks family bought the property in 1895.
As a child she rode her horse to the Ranch Branch School where Stella Gipson Polk was her teacher.
As an adult she loved working outside gardening, building fence, whatever it took to run the ranch. In her nineties-she was still mowing her yard, killing rattlesnakes, and trapping whatever varmint dared to get into her yard.
She said some of her best times and most fun was going to London Hall, dancing.
Lena Jane loved to brag on how large her family was. There was over fifty in her immediate family. She couldn't believe being an only child she would have such a large family. She loved having family come to visit and being able to cook for them. She was a great cook.
