*Obituary
John Samuel Dagen, 19, of Brady, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 in San Angelo, Texas.
He was born in Farmers Branch to John L. Dagen on February 12, 2001.
John graduated from Rochelle High School in 2019. John played football, tennis, and was in the band. He was All District in Tennis three years in a row. He was in 4-H Rifle and Archery.
John Samuel Dagen is survived by his father, John L. Dagen of Brady, Texas, brother, Keith Dagen and wife Paige of Richardson, Texas, two sisters, Dr. Jennifer Dagen and Michael Francis of Lucas, Texas, and Michelle McNaughton and husband Robert of Allen, Texas.
After graduating from Rochelle, Samuel moved to San Angelo to attend Howard College, studying law and criminal justice. His dream was to become a part of law enforcement.
However, on the early morning of Sunday, October 18, Sam Dagen's opportunity to finish his degree and start a career in law enforcement was taken from him through a senseless act of violence. He was shot in a north San Angelo neighborhood and later succumbed to his injuries at Shannon Medical Center.
The community of Brady held a vigil on Sunday night to remember Samuel as the kind, goofy, and great friend/teammate that he was. Now, his memory will live on through those people and places that held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Sunset Ridge Christ of Christ.
Church service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in Brady with Virgil Webb of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will be at Grit Cemetery in Mason County.
Pallbearers will be Charles Brooks, Jackson Brooks, JC Hall, John Bennett, and Braden Hughes.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested to donate to John Samuel Dagen Scholarship Fund, 5902 Lafayette Avenue, Rochelle, Texas 76872.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Brady.
