*Obituary
Barbara Jean Rodgers, age 90, passed from this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
Barbara was born on March 9, 1931, in Grit, Texas to Thomas and Marguerette (Cuckler) Westbrook.
She had been a resident of McCulloch County since 1993.
Barbara married Carlton Dagen in 1947, and they remained together until his passing in 1993.
In 1996 she married George Rodgers.
Barbara was a giving person and was a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ where she helped with cooking funeral meals and the Heart of Texas Bible Camp. She also volunteered at the library and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed trips with the Hillbilly Hits group, gardening and growing flowers, and decorating her home.
In her younger years, she cooked three meals a day for the 25 people she was responsible for at the Children's Home where she worked. One of the delights she cooked that were enjoyed among family and friends was her chocolate pie.
She also loved sending cards to everyone for every occasion imaginable, and in each one the recipient was guaranteed to enjoy a special heartfelt letter.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Carlton, two sisters, three brothers, and a grandson John Samuel Dagen.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband George Rodgers, two sons Larry Dagen and wife Pauline, and John Dagen, five grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, Dianne, Linda, Jimmy, Deleta, and several extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Samuel Dagen Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Rochelle ISD.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with Virgil Webb, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Grit Cemetery in Grit, Texas.
