Adele Thomas Roberts Tibbs, 90, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, in a Big Spring care facility. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dave Ring, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born on May 6, 1912 in Lampasas, Texas and married William Tracy Roberts in January 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1963. She married Finis Tibbs in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Adele came to Big Spring in 1917 and was the oldest of nine children of Clyde E., Sr. and Rebecca E. Thomas. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1928. She had owned Tracy's Food Market on Scurry Street until retiring in 1980.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Philathea Sunday School Class. Mrs. Tibbs was a 50 year member of Big Spring Chapter #67, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls. The most important things in her life were her family, her Sunday School class and Rainbow Girls.

Survivors include three daughters, Reba Bailey of Odessa, Donnie Byrne of Portland and Mary Catherine (Kitty) Holley of Bryan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth Salisbury of Big Spring and Rebecca and Ray Plunkett and Peggy and John McDuff all of Ft. Worth; two brothers and and sisters-in-law, Ray and Lazelle Thomas of Houston and Richard and Mary Thomas of Big Spring; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister-in-law, Clyde E., Jr. and Jane Thomas, George Thomas and Don Thomas; one brother-in-law, Skeeter Salisbury and two sons-in-law, Tommy Bailey and Ed Holley.

The family will be at 1706 Yale.
