Mary Helen Thomas, 86, of Seminole, formerly of Big Spring, died on Thursday, March 30, 2006, in a Seminole hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 3,2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring with Rev. Bob Fred of Denver City, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1920, in Delta County, Texas and married Oliver Henry "O.H." Thomas II on Dec. 23, 1934 in Jones County, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2004.
Mrs. Thomas came to Big Spring in 1958 from Jones County and owned and operated Classic Laundry on 11th Place for many years. She was a member of East 4th Street Baptist Church of Big Spring.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lavada and Emmett Mills of Denver City and Kathy Mayfield of Bryan/College Station; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kathy Thomas of Bastrop; nine grandchildren, Suzanne McMahan of Denver City, Chelsey Thomas of Austin, Clay Mayfield of San Antonio, Coy Mayfield of Abilene, Kirk Mayfield of Grafenver, Germany, Steve Mills of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Joshua Thomas of Austin, Jason Thomas of Houston and Scotty Thomas of Bastrop; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Johnny DeVaney of Hawley; one sister, Jewel Connell of Dimmitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one great grandson.
Pallbearers will be Josh Thomas, Steve Mills, Coy Mayfield, Clay Mayfield, Kirk Mayfield and Steven Inabnet.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 3205 W. Cuthbert, Ste A-5, Midland, Texas 79701.
