Geneva Faye Moore Starr, 92, of Big Spring, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in a local nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park.
Mrs. Starr was born to Ernest Moore and Ruthie Stevens Moore in Valley Creek in Nolan County, on Nov. 19, 1914. She married Henry George "Hank" Starr on Feb. 22, 1939, in Lovington, N.M. They lived in Colorado City and Forsan, moving to Big Spring in 1956. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1984.
She worked at various jobs, including the S&H Green Stamp store, Montgomery Ward, and while living at Forsan, she wrote the Forsan news for the Big Spring Herald. In 1962, she graduated from Aladdin Beauty School in Big Spring, and worked as a hairdresser until her retirement in the late 1970s.
Mrs. Starr has been a member of First Baptist Church in Big Spring for over 50 years.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, and being the family historian. Her greatest pleasure came from being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Tony Starr from the Houston area; two daughters, Sharon Sneed and her husband, Larry, of Big Spring, and Debbie Denning of Austin; nine grandchildren, Mark Greer, Tonya Ehart, Andrea Gee and her husband, Gary, Ronda Rutledge and her husband, Zane, Shanna Cahill and her husband, Leland, Kirby Brown II and his wife, Katherine, Chuck Denning and his wife, Mindy, Amber Morriss and her husband, Matt, and Kelly Patterson and her husband, Aaron; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Windell and Dee Dee Moore of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mrs. Starr in death are her parents, a brother, Glen "Red" Moore; two sisters, Ernestine Creek and Olene Davie; a daughter, Ruth Greer; and a daughter-in-law, Billie Starr.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Chuck Denning and Kirby Brown II, grandsons-in-law, Gary Gee, Leland Cahill, Zane Rutledge and Aaron Patterson.
The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice, 111 E. 7th St., Suite A, Big Spring, TX 79720 or to the donor's favorite charity.
Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
