*Obituary Helen Leah Stanley Huffaker
Helen Leah Stanley Huffaker was born on April 27, 1928 in Wellington, Texas. She died on August 17, 2012, in Lamesa. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Lee Lennon officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Branon Funeral Home.
Her parents were Cecil Roy and Faira Estelle Stanley. They moved to Lamesa when she was two. Helen was married December 27, 1947 to her wonderful husband, Roy Edward Huffaker. They lived in Lamesa and farmed.
She graduated from Lamesa High School and then furthered her education, graduating from Draughon's Business school in Lubbock. She then worked for the legal office of Cayton, Gresham, Fulbright and Casselberry for 40 years. She graced their office as their receptionist/secretary. Everyone enjoyed her gracious, sweet spirit and her wonderful smile.
Helen's favorite things to do were to cook and to read. She loved her Lord and her church, the Lamesa Church of the Nazarene. She served in many positions in the church. She was a Sunday school teacher, secretary and treasurer.
She lived for her family and loved being with them. She was happiest when they were around. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Roy Stanley and mother, Faira Estelle Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward Huffaker. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Faira Kay Knezevich and husband, Nick Knezevich of Oklahoma City, OK, her son, Keith Alan Huffaker of Baytown, TX, and her Grandson, Shawn Michael Huffaker of Baytown, TX.
The family would like to thank Helen's caregiver's at Sage Healthcare Facility. We would like to say a special thank you to Ricky Lee who cared for her as he would have his own Mother. We want to thank Irma Acevedo for all the massages and Pastor Lee Lennon and Pat Davis for all of their weekly visits and anyone else who came to visit her.
Donations can be made to a charity of your choice or to the Church of the Nazarene.
