SEAGRAVES -- Funeral services for Marion Hilda Nichols, 79, of Seagraves were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in the First Baptist Church of Seagraves with Pastor Billy Oliver officiating, with interment in the Gaines County Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Homes of Seagraves.
Hilda passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 at her residence in Seagraves. Hilda was born in Rayville, Louisiana to Grady and Sara Lou Turner. She met and married Alfred Nichols on June 27, 1961 in Lovington, New Mexico. Hilda was a woman of many talents; she was a beautician in Seagraves for 30 years then went on to substitute teach for the Seagraves School District, all while helping Alfred run a fruit and fireworks stand and working for EMS. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed social media.
Hilda was preceded in death by her father, Grady, in 1996 but was fortunate enough to still have her mother and have her live with she and Alfred.
Hilda is survived by a large and loving family! Husband Alfred Nichols; mother Sara Lou Turner; two sons, Allen and Debbie Nichols of Seagraves and Mark and Jana Nichols of Hale Center. Grandchildren, Tanner Nichols of Seagraves, Kandee Strube of Lubbock, Ashley and Cody Ellison of Denver City, Hallye Nichols of Lubbock, Delaney Nichols of Lubbock, Kayla and Coleton Horrell of Seagraves along with six great-grandchildren, Haddie and Hudsyn Strube of Lubbock, Kolie and Karsyn Ellison of Denver City, and Steeli and Stormi Horrell of Seagraves.
