Chloe Irene Stairs Forrest
May 25, 1936 - November 29, 2023
*Obituary
Chloe Irene (Stairs) Forrest passed away November 29, 2023 at the age of 87 in Round Rock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Amy Stairs, her son Charles, and her ex-husband, Aubrey. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (David), and 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Chloe was born in Madison, NE and went from Madison High School to Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, graduating with a Political Science degree in 1958. Chloe lived in many cities over her lifetime, including the Twin Cities in MN, but especially loved being near the forests and waterways of Olympia, WA, where she and her son owned a business together. Though she had been divorced for many years, her former sister-in-law, Mary, and her husband, Dick, remained good friends and were especially supportive of Chloe during her Washington years.
Chloe loved meeting and talking with people most of all, as well as travel, reading, work, going for walks, and her family. One very special trip was with her former mother-in-law, Frances, on a cruise to Alaska. She worked as a school guidance counselor, administrative assistant, employment counselor, insurance underwriter and adjuster, clothing stylist, and in retail sales, among other jobs. She was a lifelong member of Delta Zeta Sorority and volunteered many hours to support the organization’s philanthropy of helping those with deafness.
She dealt with alcoholism much of her life, and dementia later in life, but continued to be a spiritual person and belonged to Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin, and spoke of her faith in God’s works and love all around us.
We will miss her wit and smile (always ready to laugh at a joke), her sense of style, her warmth, and her love.
