India Alston Bryant, 98 of Austin, TX and formerly of Warren, OH peacefully left this earthly home, Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Her family was at her side at Pflugerville Care Center where she had spent the last three months. She was also assisted by Lighthouse Hospice.
India was born in Warren County, North Carolina November 1, 1910. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom Bryant, her parents, Robert and Leacy Alston, all seven siblings?brothers, Lorenzo, William Henry and George Alston and sisters, Carrie Alston, Mary Pittman, Tilla Hargrove and Leanna (Pearl) Clark. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Williams.
India is survived by her only child, Marietta Smith of Austin, TX, and grandsons, Jeff Williams and Kenneth Williams of Austin, TX and Richard Williams (Judith Maluyo) of Houston, TX. She also leaves to mourn seven great grandchildren and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
India?s passion was fishing and she had lots of fish stories to talk about. Her favorite times were spent during her yearly fishing trips to Canada on Rice Lake. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. India also was an avid baseball fan and during baseball season you might have caught her in Cleveland at an Indians game, in Chicago at a Cubs game or in St. Louis at a Cardinals game.
