Maurleen "Molly" Lloyd Baker
September 22, 1938 - September 15, 2020

On September 15, 2020, God welcomed another Angel into Heaven. Maurleen Lloyd Baker moved from this earth to start the next phase in her journey. She was filled with love and a spirt that brought happiness and positivity to all around her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Morris Baker and leaves behind their sons Matthew and David, their wives, Erika and Sonia and three grandchildren, Alexa, Samantha and Nicholas. She precedes her two sisters, Elaine Kemler and Susan Schneider.
Regardless of the challenges that were thrown at Molly throughout her life, it never lessened her resolve to fight. When she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1973, she didn’t wait for someone to try and fix her life, she took the fight to MS. She joined the MS Society and became a top fundraiser while at the same time she focused on changing her life to become stronger; strong enough to try and keep the disease at bay as long as possible. She also lived with her unrelenting power of positive thinking and no matter what was happening, she always said she is “Getting Better and Better”. This attitude carried her through to the very last day.
Her strength and energy were present in every aspect of her life and was no more evident than in how she took care of the family. She embraced being a Wife, a Mother and a Grandmother and always wanted to do more. She welcomed everyone with a smile and a kiss and a beautiful sparkle in her eyes. She surrounded everyone with her love and happiness and no matter what challenge life had presented her, she never shared her burdens with anyone.
She was an accomplished pianist and many mornings the family awoke to the sound of her playing a beautiful sonata on the piano.
She never bragged about her many talents, but she did smile a bit more when she talked about how she was the fastest runner in school. She loved to play tennis and on occasion would throw the baseball with her sons. She embraced her Italian heritage and prided herself in making homemade pasta and sauce with just the right amount of garlic. And for dessert, she made the best homemade pies and crusts around. She didn’t do this because she felt she had to, she did it because she always wanted the best for her family.
Her life was also rich and full of travels and adventures. As a new college graduate, she traveled to Europe aboard the Queen Elizabeth II and later in life, she enjoyed travels to Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Central America with the family.
She continued to make friends throughout her life. She always surrounded herself with good people and cherished and loved them always. Holidays and special occasions were made even more special because of the longtime friends who chose to make it special with her. She enjoyed entertaining at the home but also enjoyed spending many evenings at the Armstrong Theater listening to classical music and dance with her family and a young neighbor she called her “Grand Friend”.
Molly was an amazing person who brought happiness and love to all around her. She inspired so many more people than she ever knew and raised a family that was instilled with her strength, skills and wisdom. This world is lesser for our loss but heaven has gained an incredible soul. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.
