*Obituary
Katherine Ann Halbrooks, 74, of Loop, TX ran into the arms of her Lord and Savior with a healed body and mind on November 30, 2023.
She was born to H.T. Todd and Billie Bingham on June 13, 1949, in Snyder, TX. She graduated from Loop High School in 1967. On June 21, 1968, she married the love of her life Harold Loyd Halbrooks at Ashmore Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member for many years. In December of 1969 she and Loyd welcomed their first baby girl, Stacey Dawn. In 1972 Kathy graduated from South Plains College with an associate science degree. Upon graduation she chose to be a stay-at-home mom and wife and would later welcome two more daughters Heather Deann in March of 1973 and Holley Denise in January of 1978. While taking care of her own children she welcomed many other children into her home and heart and babysat them. Before retiring to be a full time Nanny to her grandkids she worked for Mary Williams and Cindy Durham at Special Occasions in Seagraves, Texas where she was able to put her art and people skills to use.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. From cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, and sewing, to pulling diesel tanks and running to town for parts she always was doing for her family as well as others. She chased the yellow dog around for years following her husband and his basketball teams. Later, she would follow her grandkids around and support them at everything they did from music programs, basketball and football games and track meets to stock shows and horse shows. She loved her role as Nanny and loved her babies with all her being. Kathy undoubtedly knew the importance of family throughout her life and treasured every moment spent with them.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents H.T. and Billie Todd and her in-laws Filbert and Lora Halbrooks. She is survived by her faithful and loving husband Loyd of 55 years. Children Stacey and Richard Williams of Seagraves, TX; Heather and Joseph O'Malley of Merkel, TX; and Holley and John Cornelius of Sudan, TX; grandchildren Brett, Leandra, Malloree, Jace, Alyssa, Sydney, Sabrina, Maddox, Kacey, Addison, and Keenum; great grandchildren Aries, Kambree, and Kobe; sisters Vicki (Calvin) Scott and Carla (Mike) Young both of Loop, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be at Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves, TX on December 4 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Ashmore Baptist Church on December 5 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at the Loop Cemetery.
