Funeral services for Robbie Piner Kilgore, 85, of Lamesa, will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Lamesa with Bro. Daniel Armstrong officiating.
Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Branon Funeral Home.
Robbie passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 in Lubbock.
She was born on February 7, 1925 in Big Spring to Winifred (Hatch) and Robert Piner. She married Robert Dixie Kilgore on July 7, 1950 in Big Spring. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Robbie graduated from Big Spring High School in 1943 where she was elected as a cheerleader. She then attended Baylor University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She spent a semester in Mexico where she studied the Spanish language. She loved to work cross-word puzzles each morning and also enjoyed playing golf. She served as a mentor at South Elementary, teaching students to read in a reading program. She was an avid traveler that visited places all around the world. She was a member at First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by children, Anne Kilgore Harwell and husband, Richard, of Fort Worth, and Bob Kilgore and wife, Hope, of Lamesa; grandchildren, Brandi Peek and husband, Jason, of Amarillo, Tandi Sanders of Amarillo, Randi Marshall and husband, Travis, of Lamesa, and Andy Kilgore of Amarillo; 11 great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Mary Ann Alonzo of Lamesa.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Winifred and Robert Piner; and sister, Winifred Patterson.
The family suggests donations to the Needs Network First United Methodist Church 409 N. 3rd St. Lamesa, TX 79331.
