Annie Christine Lee, 99, of Lamesa passed away on Sunday June 16, 2013 at her residence. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa with Bobby Broyles officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday June 17, 2013 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lee was born on October 25, 1913 in Cisco, Texas to William Preston and Sarah Ethel (Stokes) Cozart. Her family moved to Dawson County from Eastland County when she was eight years old. The move took eight days in a covered wagon. She loved to tell about the move and how the young children were responsible for keeping the cattle, pigs, and chickens rounded up during the move. It took three days for the heavily loaded wagons to come up the caprock. After graduation from Lamesa High School she met Luther Lee and they were married on May 6, 1933 in Lamesa. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend who loved to garden, cook, and sew. But her favorite past time was fishing and, she really loved to eat fried catfish with bar-b-que sauce on it.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna and husband, Tommy Broyles of Abilene, and Deana and husband, James Hogg of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister Bessie Faye Grayson of Round Rock; six grandchildren, Rick and wife, Linda of Lamesa, Terri Lee of Odessa, Jerine and husband, Dan Kiser of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Colleen and husband, Alan Moore of Canyon, Tommy and wife, Anne of Austin, and Tracy Broyles of Leander; and 10 great-grandchildren. Christine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther; a son, Robert Lee; a sister, Lois Merle O'Brien; and brothers, Elbert Logan Cozart, William "Boots" Cozart, and Wilbur Glenn Cozart.

The family wants to express a special thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers and hospice workers who did a fabulous job of taking care of Christine these past few years.

The family suggests memorials to Second Baptist Church, 1705 N. Bryan Ave., Lamesa, TX, 79331. To send condolences online please visit www.branonfuneralhome.com
