William Roy Gafford passed away at the age of 80 on January 5, 2021 in Leander, TX.
Born April 21, 1940 in Nashville, TN, Roy graduated from Cohn High School. He was married to Sherry Lee Gentry on February 28, 1959. Following high school, Roy attended Middle Tennessee State University and then transferred to Vanderbilt University where he received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Graduating from Vanderbilt was one of his proudest accomplishments. Roy’s first job was with Ford Motor Company. After living in Nashville, TN, Florence, AL, and Lexington, KY, Roy and Sherry settled in Austin, TX where Roy was employed by IBM for 30 years. While in Austin, Roy and Sherry adopted their daughter Danielle in 1972.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Sherry Lee Gafford, his Mother Louise Bowker Gafford, and Father Walter “Joe” Slayden Gafford. Roy is survived by his Daughter Danielle Gafford White, Son-in-Law Jon White, grandchildren Brandon and Thomas White, and Sisters-in-law Debbie Sweeney of Nashville, TN; Melinda Carlisle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, as well as two nieces, Karyn Warf of Lafayette, TN; and Nicole Martin of Cumming, GA.
Roy’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of The Legacy at Crystal Falls Assisted Living and Memory Care for the love, care and support they have provided the last 4 years. Thank you also to Kindred Hospice for their care and support.
Internment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a Parkinson’s research foundation of your choosing.

Born April 30, 1940 in Nashville, TN, Sherry graduated from Isaac Litton High School. She was married to William Roy Gafford on February 28, 1959. After living in Nashville, TN, Florence, AL, and Lexington, KY, they settled in Austin, TX where they adopted their daughter Danielle.
Sherry is preceded in death by her Mother Virginia Nevil Mann, Father James Gentry, and Brother Mike Rector. Sherry is survived by her husband of 60 years, William Roy Gafford, Daughter Danielle Gafford White, Son-in-Law Jon White, grandchildren Brandon and Thomas White and Sisters Debbie Sweeney of Nashville Tennessee; Melinda Carlisle of Fort Lauderdale Florida, as well as two nieces, Karyn Warf of Lafayette, Tennessee; and Nicole Martin of Cumming, Georgia.
