Theodore Elijah Scarborough, Jr, 87, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022.

He was born in Laredo, Texas on August 20, 1934 to Clara Maud (Rader) and Theodore Elijah Scarborough, Sr.

Ted was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Hyde Park for almost 60 years, and for the last 45 years served as an elder of the congregation.

Ted grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School and attended The University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, TX. He was very athletic and played “all the sports”, focusing on baseball and football.

Ted proudly served in the US Army as a radar operator. After the Army, Ted and Trudi returned to Texas in 1959 and settled in Austin.

Ted’s love of sports continued and he played minor league baseball for several years. He also became an avid golfer. In addition to the group of men that he played with weekly over the years, he had the privilege of playing at Pebble Beach in CA and the “Old Course” at St Andrews in Scotland.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Trudi Scarborough in 2021, his parents, sister Wanda Scarborough Johns, and his daughter-in-law Celeste Scarborough.

Ted is survived by his son David and his wife Pam; son Mark; four grandchildren, Ashley Scarborough, Brandon Scarborough and his wife Stacy, Matthew Scarborough and Lindsey Scarborough Gates and her husband Colton; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Clara Scarborough. Ted is also survived by his sister Bea Surber and her husband Al and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 13th at the Church of Christ in Hyde Park, 310 W 43rd Street in Austin, Texas. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm at the church building. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Central Texas Children’s Home.

Austin - Trudi Fisk Scarborough, 85, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021. She was born in McGregor, Texas, on March 5, 1936 to Alvin and Louise (Hodde) Fisk. Trudi was the 9th of 10 children in the family. Spending time with family and friends was very important to Trudi.
She was a wonderful Christian lady who received Christ as her personal Savior in her early teens. Trudi was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Hyde Park for almost 60 years. Trudi also served as the Executive Director of the Austin Association of Life Underwriters for 30 years until her retirement in 1997.
Trudi was preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings; Alvin Fisk, Gene Fisk, Weldon Fisk, Joyce Duckworth, Bill Fisk, Jimmy Fisk, Charley Fisk, Leland Fisk and Pete Fisk.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ted Scarborough; their son David and his wife Pam; their son Mark and his wife Celeste; four grandchildren, Ashley Scarborough, Brandon Scarborough and his wife Stacy, Matthew Scarborough and Lindsey Scarborough; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Clara Scarborough. Trudi is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
