*Marjorie Christoferson Obituary

Marjorie 'Keeko' Christoferson Keeko was the first baby born in the new Freeport, Texas hospital on February 5, 1928. She passed peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2010 with family and friends by her side. After graduating Salutatorian from Angleton High School in 1944, Keeko entered the University of Texas to study pre-med and chemistry. Her fascination with lab equipment led her to jobs at MD Anderson and Methodist Hospital in Houston as a chemistry tech, and later at Humble Oil (now Exxon) as a med tech. Later in life, Keeko moved to Austin and fell in love with the beauty of Lake Travis. As a shrewd businesswoman, Keeko purchased a 13-slip marina with a floating café (known as Cypress Creek Marina). The café was home to many boaters, especially on weekends when Keeko and her husband Chris served up homemade blueberry pancakes and breakfast tacos to die for! The marina eventually grew to 106 slips, along with numerous new friends. Over the years, Keeko took in many people under her own 'angel wings'. She considered all her friends as family. Keeko was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Weldon Hasselfield and William 'Chris' Christoferson, and her daughter Adrian Hasselfield. She is survived by her sister, Marie 'Sissy' Harrington; son Wayne Hasselfield, son Henry Hasselfield and fiancée Monica Andrews; grandson John Finney, his wife Angela and their children Amber and Jonathon, grandson Nolan Beebe; nephew, Richard Harrington; step-children, Billy, Mark, Elaine, Eric, and Kris Christoferson, step-granddaughter Kristi Christoferson, step- granddaughter and husband Stacy and Rudy Gonzalez, their children Rudy, Jr. and Cameron. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Keeko's home caregivers Olga, Shanda, and Analisa who are employed by Home Instead. Thank you, Ladies, for your personal attention to Keeko. She loved you dearly. Additionally, the family would like to thank the hospice staff at The Lighthouse at Altenheim, located in Round Rock, Texas. The facility was more than exceptional and exceeded the expectations for a peaceful and comforting passing. Keeko loved her church and in lieu of flowers, her wishes were to have donations sent to the Generation to Generation Fund, c/o Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Dr. Austin, TX 78750. Visitation will be held 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18th at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills in Austin. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19th at Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Dr., Austin, TX. In closing, we hope all will share Keeko's motto in life which was, "Do Right - Fear No One". We love you, Keeko! To share memories about Keeko, please visit www.cookwaldenchapelofthehills.com
