Billie Wilburn, 94, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019. She was born June 8, 1924 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late William J. Settle and Edna Bingaman Settle of Austin, Texas.

Billie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1970 in Belton, Texas. She taught elementary school for 23 years, the last 21 years in San Antonio Independent School District.

Billie was married to Norman Ernest Wilburn in October of 1999 in Round Rock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wilburn; daughter, Sandra Lynn Shuttlesworth; sister, Barbara Settle Johnson of Round Rock, Texas.

Billie is survived by her son, David W. Owens and wife Carol of Friendswood; granddaughters: Robin Dixon (Russell) of Lampasas, Texas; Caitlin Goins (Scott) of Friendswood, Texas, and Erin Wyatt (John) of Nacogdoches, Texas. Billie is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Tyler, Tanner and Grace Goins of Friendswood, Texas; Lainey and Alexis Dixon of Lampasas, Texas; Paul and James Wyatt of Nacogdoches, Texas, and her nieces, Adrienne Purgason of Austin, Texas and Pamela Cirkiel of Round Rock, Texas.

Billie’s urn will find a final resting place in a cemetery in Austin, Texas at a later date.
