Mrs. Jo Anne Holtzclaw Dearing, age 86, died on July 23, 2016 at Country Oaks Assisted Living from a heart ailment.

She was born February 23, 1930 to Mr. William Ethel Holtzclaw, Jr. and the former Miss Clarice Marceile Blackmore in Austin. Her younger sisters Patricia Marceile and Dale Lynn completed the family. As Jo Anne lived and died in Texas, so did her parents, grandparents, and all eight of her great-grandparents.

Jo Anne graduated from Austin High School in 1949. Soon after, she married Mr. Olin Clyde Dearing, Jr. on June 27, 1949 in her Grandmother Hattie Blackmore's living room in Austin.

Mr. & Mrs. Dearing welcomed daughter Jo Lynn on their second wedding anniversary, and son Olin Clyde III two years later, before accepting a job opportunity in Dallas. This is where daughters Nancy Lee and Elizabeth Anne were born.

In 1960 the family moved to Houston for another job opportunity, and remained there until 1976, at which time the couple with their youngest daughter returned to Austin. Olin and Jo Anne became very involved in square and round dancing, being elected President of the Austin Square and Round Dance Association. They were voted Austin Square and Round Dancers of the Year in 1994.

Mr. & Mrs. Dearing were married for 63 years before Olin passed away in 2012. At this time Jo Anne moved to Country Oaks Assisted Living in Burnet. The family wishes to thank the administrators and staff at Country Oaks for tending to her kindly and lovingly, especially in her difficult last month.

Mrs. Dearing is survived by her children, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Beard (Jo Lea) of Austin; Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Dearing (Tamra) of Conroe; Mr. & Mrs. Louis Johnson (Nancy) of Liberty Hill; and Mr. & Mrs. A.B. Walters (Elizabeth) of Burnet; as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mr. & Mrs. Louis Hartgrove (Pat) of Arizona and Mr. & Mrs. Pete Langston (Dale) of Austin; plus nieces /nephews; great-nieces /nephews; and great-great-nieces/nephews.

On Saturday, August 27, 2016, the family invites you to join them at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35 in Pflugerville, for Mrs. Dearing's memorial service at 1pm. Following the service, we will remove to the Hill Country Cremation Garden where she will be entombed next to her husband.
