Mount Vernon, Texas - ODDIE BEATRICE POSEY WHITE, 77, of Mount Vernon, Texas, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in her home.
Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Sunday in Collier Chapel Cemetery, 10 miles north and one mile west of Mount Vernon.
Bea was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Okemah, Okla., to Horace A. and Edna Jane Lunsford Posey. As an infant, she moved with her parents to Healdton, Okla., where she grew up. Later, she lived a few years with her family and husband, Charles White, in Sulphur, Okla., and many years in Jimtown, Okla. She went through grade school and high school in Healdton. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, caregiver for her husband and her parents, and professional seamstress. She loved social gatherings and dancing.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Sue and David Ballard of Duncan, Okla.; a daughter, Patricia Ann and Gary Dean of Mount Vernon, with whom she made her home for several years; and a son, Wesley Wade "Butch" and Sharon West of Fort Worth, Texas.
A surviving sister, Jewell Dean and Robert Shelton, reside in Duncan. A brother, Bobby Gene and Elizabeth Jonquil "Bette" Posey, are in Del City, Okla. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles White, in 1974, her father in 1990, and her mother in 1995.
