MOUNT VERNON-Loyd Smith, 79, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Sept. 08, 2001 in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Jim Crittenden and Bobby Berger officiated. Interment was in City Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born May 22, 1922 in Titus County, the son of Willie R. Smith and Lizzie Burkhead. He was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker.

MOUNT VERNON – Elsie Mae Smith, 83, died Monday, July 11, 2011in Mount Vernon. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Hood and Rev. Jim Crittenden officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon City Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born on November 15, 1927 in Winfield to Earnest W. and Leota Jernigan Cox. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by son, Jerry Smith of Mount Vernon; four sisters, Dorothy Haley of Mount Vernon, Elizabeth Edwards of Lodi, Calif., Sylvia Dodd of Lincoln, Calif., and Juanita Foreman of Stockton, Calif.; brother, Bobby Cox of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Smith in 2001; two daughters, Dyan Azaphour and Alice Smith; and her parents.
