KILGORE -- Services for C.D. Shores, 93, of Kilgore, will be 4 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Kilgore, with the Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery.

Mr. Shores died January 5, 2007, in Kilgore. Born January 4, 1914, in St. Joseph, Mo., he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a retired caster for Kilgore Ceramics and a longtime member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Shores; daughters, Charlotte Honea and Frances Daily; son, Perry Combest; and sister, Pearl Murphy.

KILGORE - Services for Evelyn Shores, 95, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore, with the Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery.

Mrs. Shores was born March 14, 1914, daughter of the late W.W. and Kate Horner. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kilgore. Mrs. Shores was a homemaker and along with her late husband, Mr. C.D. Shores, they owned and operated the 8-10 Food Store in Kilgore in the 1960s and 1970s. Evelyn volunteered at Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital and will be remembered as a hard working and very charitable woman.

She is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Honea of Kilgore and Frances Daily of Illinois; son, Perry Combest and his wife, Sandi, of Denton, Texas; three grandchildren, Brad Wild of San Antonio, Texas, Jaqueline Wilson and her husband, Rock, of Travers City, Michigan, and Baron Honea and his wife, Kari, of Muldrow, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Kyleigh, Blondie, Rebecca, Aaron and Aubrey; and several nieces and nephews.
