Funeral services for Charlie T. Murphy, 84, former Electra resident, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday from Hampton Vaughn Funeral Home in Wichita Falls with the Rev. Merwin Turner, associate pastor of Floral Heights Methodist Church, and the Rev. David Johnson, minister of Central Christian Church, officiating.

Burial was in Electra Memorial Park with masonic graveside rites by Electra Lodge No. 1067.

Murphy was born July 19, 1905 in Pilot Point, Texas, and died Tuesday, June 19, in a Wichita Falls hospital. He was a longtime resident of the Electra area.

Retired from his company, Charlie T Murphy, he was associated with the oil field supply business for many years including an overseas association with the Arabian American Oil Co. in Saudi Arabia.

He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No 1105, and a 50 year member of Electra Masonic Lodge No. 1067, and was a charter member and a deacon of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maurine; two daughters, Conny McKelvey of Goliad and Sarah Smith of Dallas; three sons, John "J.P." of Austin, Charles "Puggin" of Teague, Korea, and John Huey of Euless, Texas, and a brother, Robert Dale of Fort Worth._

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles T. (Biggie) Murphy, 59, who died Thursday, Feb. 12, at her home in Wichita Falls, were held at the First Christian Church here at 2:30 p.m., Sunday.

The Rev. Victor Hershiser, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Electra Memorial Park under direction of James B. Totten and Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Murphy was born May 17, 1910, in Marshall, Texas. The Murphys came to Electra in 1933 and except for a brief period lived here until they left for Saudi Arabia in 1952. They returned to the States in 1962 and since that time have resided in Wichita Falls.

In Electra, Mrs. Murphy was active in church and civic work. She sang with the choir of the First Christian Church of which she was a member, and was a vocalist for a number of civic and social activities. An avid supporter of youth, she was the first president of the Electra Band Parents organization. She helped organize the Electra Community Center and gave unstintingly of her time and talent in USO work during World War II.

A recipient of a life membership in Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, Mrs. Murphy served as president of various organizations including Northside Elementary PTA, Las Madras Club, Christian Women's Fellowship, Electra Music Club, and Twentieth Century Club. For a time she was society editor of the Electra Star-News.

In Dharan, Mrs. Murphy worked with the native women through the hospital, teaching them personal hygiene for themselves and their children as well as simple cooking and sewing. She helped raise funds for Palestinian Refugee Relief, at one time raising $1,000 through the sale of candles that she designed and molded.

An active member of the Dhahran Outing Group (DOGS), she made frequent trips into the desert in search of artifacts. While overseas, the Murphys traveled widely, their travels including two trips around the world and several trips to the Holy Land.

In Wichita Falls Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Central Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John P. Murphy of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Charles William Murphy of Harrogate, England; her father, John R. Wilkes Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, John R. Wilkes of Fort Worth, and Benjamin F Wilkes of Montclair, New Jersey; and one sister, Mrs. Hugh Cawley of Atlanta, Georgia.

Pallbearers were Raymond Russell, Ed Bingham, and J.R. Brown, Electra, P.M. Kovack and Pete Kizis, Wichita Falls, and Brian Henderson of Lubbock.

Honorary pallbearers were J.T. Stephens, Theo Youree, Dr. C.G. Downtain, Gordon Douglas, Ray B. Dickey, and Ned Huguelet, Electra, W.S. Brown, Bob Lucas and L.B. Slaughter of Wichita Falls, and Woodrow Stewart of Fort Worth._
