Mollie Mary ALSTON

Old Henderson City Cemetery
Rusk County,
Texas

21 Aug 1859-28 Jan 1937
Mollie M. Cabiness was the daughter of James A. Cabiness from NC and his wife Martha Ann Calhoun. She married first in 1880 in Houston Co TX, Robert H. Alston Jr b. 1859. Their one surviving child out of five, was Willie Augusta Alston. As a widow Mollie (Cabiness) Alston lived in Huntsville, Walker co TX. She next married a cousin to her first husband, Dr. W.H. Alston b. 1852 whom she married on 9 Jan 1889 in Walker County, TX. Mollie (Cabiness) Alston came to live in Rusk Co TX by her married daughter Willie Augusta (Alston) Warren and became a much-loved member of the larger extended Warren family in Rusk County. Mollie Alston died of tuberculosis, as did her daughter.

Mollie stated in 1900 census for Walker Co. TX, that she'd had 5 children, only 1 living in 1900 (Willie Augusta Alston). I found two graves of the other four kids in the Hutchings-Alston-Haden Family Cemetery in Walker Co TX.
1. Bernice Alston b. 1882 d. 1896, dtr of Robert H Alston Jr and Mollie Cabiness
2. Winston Alston b. 2-15-1885 d 10-31-1885 son of Robert H Alston Jr and Mollie Cabiness
3. A third grave is too deteriorated but says 'possibly another Alston girl'. Apparently graves not in that great of shape and property was sold to the State/Huntsville State Prison. Cemetery sits up on top a hill, is fenced, and apparently you can visit it w/ permission.

The Bible of Mollie Cabiness was available for the above marriages and dates. 2nd marriage to Dr. William H. Alston must have ended in divorce as he is living with his sister in the June 4 1900 census in Rusk County, TX.
