A car-truck collision west of Electra on Hwy 287 late Tuesday afternoon claimed the lives of an Electran, Mrs. Peggy Campbell, 44, and an Oklaunion man, Melvin DeWitt Moore, 52.

Virgil Loyd Datray of Houston, driver of the gasoline transport truck, received minor injuries in the accident which occurred about 6:40 p.m. a mile west of Electra.

According to the report, the new 1967 automobile driven by Moore, in which Mrs. Campbell was a passenger, and the truck crashed in a near head-on collision. Traffic was blocked with wreckage on the highway for nearly two hours following the accident.

Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell were to be held at 4 p.m. today from the chapel of the James B. Totten and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Ira Thompson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was to be in the Electra Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell was a native of Taylor County. She had resided here for about 20 years. The family home is at 308 W. Glisson.

She is survived by her husband, W.E. Campbell, and two sons, William E. Campbell of Dallas and Johnny Lee Campbell of Electra; four brothers, Terry Blankenship of Slegiman, California, Homer Blankenship of Nederland, Texas, Owen Blankenship of Abilene and Warren Blankenship of Fort Worth; six sisters, Mrs. Dewey Edmonds of Hope, Arkansas, Mrs. John Getter of Fort Worth, Mrs. Eddie Hill of Yubba City, California, Mrs. Herman Pool of El Centro, California, Mrs. L.H. Hargrove of Cross Plains, Texas, and Mrs. Rachel Nielson of California, and two grandchildren._
