*Obituary
Last rites for Mrs. Opal Margaret Laflin, a resident of Wheeler for the past 27 years, were held Monday at the Wheeler First Baptist Church.

Rev. M.B. Smith of Pampa and Rev. Frank Ross, pastor of the local church, officiated. Interment was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laflin died suddenly Saturday. She was 55.

Born at Thornberry, Texas, on Aug. 18, 1907, she was married to L.C. Laflin at Walters, Okla., on Dec. 24, 1933. They moved to Wheeler on May 5, 1935.

She was a member of the Baptist Church, the Wednesday Study Club, North Wheeler County Garden Club. A sports fan, she also was on a Winter Bowling League team.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Barnes of Wheeler, and Mrs. Virginia Rose Pettit of Pampa; three step children, Carl L. Laflin of Pampa, Mrs. Maxine Howard of Miami and Mrs. Doris Faye Adams of Amarillo; two brothers, Hershell Hansard and Alvin Hansard, both of Wichita Falls; five sisters, Mrs. Gertie Barnett, Mrs. Addie Smith, Mrs. Crystal Blankenship, and Mrs. Iva Roper, all of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Rentie Osborn of Claude, and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Thurman Trew, Roy Bailey, Percy Farmer, Ralph Smotherman, Shelby Pettit and Bob Riley.
