Funeral services for C.D. (Doug) Mitchell were conducted from the First Baptist Church here Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. M.B. Smith, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Mitchell passed away at a Pampa hospital April 11 after having undergone surgery a few days prior.

C.D. Mitchell was born in Hardeman County on July 4, 1891 and passed away at Pampa, April 11, 1952 at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 7 days. He lived in Hardeman County until coming to Wheeler county about 12 years ago. Since coming to Wheeler County the Mitchell family had resided on a farm west of Wheeler.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wheeler at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. C.D. Mitchell; seven sons, C.C. Mitchell of Springer, N.M., W.D. Mitchell of Wheeler, Charlie Mitchell of Amarillo, Vernon, Frank and Joe of Wheeler, and Jack Mitchell who is in the service stationed at El Paso; two daughter, Mrs. R.H. (Gene) Hornsby of Amarillo and Barbara Mitchell of Wheeler; two sisters, Mrs. W.I. Thomas of Quanah and Mrs. Ola Prescott of Illinois; one brother, Ervin Mitchell of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one daughter.

Pall bearers were: Cecil Martin, Cliff Sivage, Shorty Sechrist, George Lamb, Ernest Dyer and P.A. Martin.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
