Funeral services for Frank Ivy Mitchell, who died last Thursday afternoon at 4:30 as a result of a car-train crash near Skellytown early Thursday morning, were held at the First Baptist Church here last Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. M.B. Smith, pastor, officiating.

Mitchell, who was 24 years old at the time of his death, was born in Goodlet and had lived with the family west of Wheeler for approximately 12 years, except for the time he spent in the Armed Forces.

He died Thursday afternoon about 15 hours after the car in which he was riding crashed into a train at a railroad crossing near Skellytown. The crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. C.D. Mitchell, Wheeler; six brothers, W.D., Vernon and Joe, all of Wheeler, C.C. of Springer, N.M., Charlie of Amarillo and Jack who is in the armed forces stationed at El Paso; two sisters, Mrs. R.H. Hornsby of Amarillo and Barbara Mitchell of Wheeler.

Mitchell's father, C.D. Mitchell, died in a Pampa hospital April 11.

Pall bearers were: Spud Moore, Leo Lamb, Chris McClain, Maurice Pettit, Leo Hubble and Charles Harris.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
