Willie (Billie) Odom, 95, died on Monday, Aug. 29, in Alamogordo. She was born on Mar. 7, 1910 in Hamilton, Texas, to William and Sarah Boatwright. They moved to N.M. in 1914. The family moved to Hope, N.M., then later to Carlsbad, N.M. Billie graduated from Carlsbad High School in May of 1928. She married Fred Odom in 1948, in Carlsbad.
They moved several times. In 1992, Billie moved to Alamogordo to be near her niece and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sarah Boatwright and her siblings; one brother; Audie Boatright;
two sisters, Mollie Devall and Thelma Polnado; and her husband Fred Odom.
She is survived by her three nieces; Billie Hurst of Alamogordo, Morjie Smith and her husband Bond, and Anne Kellog and her husband Don; two nephews Jessie Boatright and his wife Anna, and Charlie Kroeger and his wife Jean; five step children, Linda Odell and her husband Melvin, Johnny Odom and his wife Kay, Joyce Luker, Bernice Odom, and Lee Odom. She had numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Heithold officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in the Kermit Cemetery, Kermit, Texas.
