HEREFORD - (Special) - Services for Ezra H. Norton, 88, of Hereford will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church here. Officiating will be Dr. John Bridwell, pastor of First Christian Church of Amarillo.

Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery here under the direction of Smith & So. Funeral Home of Hereford.

Norton died at home Thursday after a lengthy illness.

A native of Stephens County, he had lived in Hereford since 1898. Norton was a member of a prominent ranching and stockman family here and had operated Norton Motor Co. from 1925 to 1941.

He had been honored as Pioneer of the Year and had served as president of Mid-Plains Pioneer Association. He was active in ranching and cattle raising until 1973 when he retired. Norton was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Euna Hutcheon of Amarillo; a brother, H.D. of Monett, Mo.; and a granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be made in the form of donations to favorite charities.

HEREFORD, Jan. 1 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Avis Palmer Norton, 71, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Russell Wingert officiating.

Burial will be in West Park Cemetery under the direction of Gililland Funeral Home.

A 60-year resident of Hereford, Mrs. Norton died at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

She was born May 21, 1888, in Montague County, Tex. She came to Hereford with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Palmer, in 1899, one year after the town was founded.

In 1906 in Hereford, she was married to Ezra Norton, rancher and later sheriff of Deaf Smith County.

Mrs. Norton had belonged to the Presbyterian Church since childhood.

Survivors include her husband, and one son, Palmer Norton, both of Hereford; a brother, W.L. Palmer of Amarillo, and two grandchildren, David and Nelda Kay Norton of Hereford.
