Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lamorah Walker, 89, were held Friday at 10 a.m. in Rose Chapel of Gililland Funeral Home. Russell Wingert, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated.

Mrs. Walker died in a hospital in Las Vegas, N.M., where she was living with a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cecil Walker, Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. She had been ill several years.

Mrs. Walker, born Nov. 3, 1870, in Grayson County, Tex., was one of the first residents of Deaf Smith County, coming here with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Cox, in 1887.

She married Cal Walker on Jan. 4, 1890, in the county. She was a member of the First Christian Church until death. She had lived with her son, Cecil Walker, for several years. Upon his death in 1957, she remained with her daughter-in-law in the Las Vegas area. Her husband preceded her in death in 1917.

Her daughter, the late Mrs. A.H. Swigart, was the first white baby born in Deaf Smith County. Mrs. Walker never missed a Hereford Pioneer Day Celebration.

Surviving other than the daughter-in-law, are a brother, Jim Cox of Pampa; her son-in-law, A.H. Swigart of Hereford; five grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, all in the Hereford area.

Interment was in West Park Cemetery under direction of Gililland Funeral Home.
