Emerald L. Tigert, 82, of DeKalb, formerly of Omaha, died Saturday, December 26, 1993 at Redbud Nursing Home in Naples. Funeral services were Tuesday, December 29 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Naples with the Rev, Tom Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery at Omaha. Mr. Tigert was born September 2, 1910 in Omaha. He was a retired carpenter and welder; and a member of the First Baptist Church of DeKalb and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America. He had served in the US Coast Guard and was a member of the Admiral Byrd Expedition to the South Pole in 1933-35. Survivors include one son, Lee Tigert of Park Pacifica, CA; one stepson Troy Daniel of Garland, Texas; one daughter Jo Ann Dunnell of Fremont, CA; one stepdaughter, Margie Welch of Henderson; five brothers John W. Tigert of Mesquite, George W. Tigert of Lone Star, Bobby Tigert, George Tigert, Jr., and Reuben Smith of Shreveport; four sisters Lucy McCollum of Naples, Josephine Terrell of Lone Star, Mildred Terrell of Daingerfield and Ruby Ivy of Gladewater; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Nisida (Jackie) Tigert, 70, of Omaha were Thursday of last week at 10 a.m. at the Hanner Funeral Home Chapel in Naples with the Rev. David Blasé and the Rev. Carroll Jones officiating. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery near Omaha. She was a former resident of California and had lived in Omaha for the past two years. Survivors include her husband Emerald Tigert of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Bayrouth of Crowley, LA and Mrs. Margarite Morrison of New Orleans; one brother John Hanes of New Orleans; a step-son Lee Tigert of Pacifica, CA and one daughter Mrs. Jo Ann Dunnell of San Bruno, CA.
