*Obituary
Friday night, as he was closing his filling station to start home, he was suddenly overcome and fell helpless and unconscious, but was hurriedly taken to the home of his brother in law, A. G. Brown, where he lived only a short while, as medical aid could nothing that would rally him. W. M., or Mat Davis, as he was generally known, was 51 years of age, and with his family was making his home at the old family homestead near Concord where he was brought up, though running his business in town going back and forth. He was one among a large family of Davis', a son of C. C. Davis who had been dead several years, and his immediate family, his wife Ola, three sons, one daughter, with his brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces; leaves many to directly mourn his going away. Besides, he had many close friends who mourn with the family of bereaved ones. Mr. Davis had been suffering several years with high blood pressure and complications that skilled physicians could not over come; though he was up and going at work until the very last. His body was embalmed and held in state at the Brown home awaiting the arrival of a son from North Carolina, and all other relatives assembled, when it was taken to Concord Monday afternoon for interment following funeral services by his pastor, Elder J. S. Caldwell, Rev. W. M. Bass and Rev. J. W. Finley. (Row 1 NW)
