J. Erb Davis died at 4:00 o'clock p.m. Friday June 26, at his family home in the Concord community. His death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage, and although he had been in failing health for several months his death was quite a shock to his family and friends. Funeral services were held at 4:00 Saturday afternoon at the Concord Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. Eugene McClung of Mt. Pleasant, and Rev. Ben Anderson, pastor of the Omaha Methodist church, officiating. A special song was sung by Rev. C. E. Parish, pastor of the Omaha Baptist church. Interment was made in the Concord cemetery. Pall bearers were W. S. Harvey, Cluron Wright, Luther Morris, H. N. Wright, J. D. Gray and Perry Wallace. J. E. Davis, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dixie Davis, was born July 9, 1886, in the Concord community, and with the exception of only a few years, lived his entire life in the community in which he was born. On September 13, 1903 he was married to Miss Ida Galloupe, and to this union was born seven children; the oldest son preceded his father in death. He was a member of the Baptist church at Concord, and was actively interested in the affairs of the church. At the time of his death he was serving his second term as Commissioner and Justice of the Peace of the Omaha Precinct and was a candidate for the office of County Judge of Morris county. Survivors are his widow, two sons, J. E. Jr., of Omaha, Odia, in the U. S. war service in the Hawaiian Islands; four daughters, Mrs. Annie Lee Acker and Mrs. Viva Mae Johnson of Omaha; Mrs. Lucille Galloway of Sherman and Mrs. Verna Lawhon of Vivian, La, eleven grandchildren; two brothers, W.
