Marjorie Ellen (Edmiston) Pope, 90, of Andrews, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at McNett Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Pastor Brant O’Connor will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Marjorie was born November 18, 1921 in Eldorado, Texas to Grant and Pearl Edmiston. She married Clete Andrew Pope September 29, 1939 and moved to Andrews.
Mrs. Pope was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. She worked for Andrews Independent School District and was the Cafeteria Manager at Glorietta Elementary School. She was a member of the Andrews Retired School Employees Association.
She loved to cook and after many years of cooking for 400 students at school, she always cooked big family meals with an abundance of leftovers that she was proud to send with her family.
She enjoyed working in her yard and watching wild birds and animals. She enjoyed always having a pet or two to take care of. She loved her grandchildren and loved to babysit them and the grandchildren always looked forward to Easter egg hunts in her big back yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Pearl Edmiston; husband Clete Pope in 1967; son Morris pope in 1982 and great grandson, Andrews Pope.
She is survived by her son, Charles Pope and his wife Ethel of Andrews; six grandchildren; Crystal Reynolds and her husband Chad of Santiago, Chile; Sheri Burgen and husband Mark of Andrews; ginger Shantz and husband Dann of Midland; Byron Pope and Gwen Denby of Farmington, NM; Eddie Pope and his wife Dana of Las Vegas, NV and nine Great-Grandchildren. www.mcnettfuneralhome.com
