Drucilla Adelia Heddins was the third child born to James ("Jim") & Clarinda ("Clara") (Brewster) Heddins shortly after the family's move from Illinois to Texas. Drucilla was probably born on the family's land in the Pleasant Grove community of Van Zandt County. She was named after her Aunt Drucilla Brewster.
When he was about 16 their family bought land a few miles away in northern Henderson County. Tragedy struck the Heddins household when Drucilla and her older brother, Thomas, died two days apart in mid-December 1872. Drucilla died less than four months shy of her 19th birthday. Although there is no marker to identify her grave, it is believed that she and her brother were buried on their land where about nine months later their own mother was to be buried upon her untimely death.
